St. Francis House Food Pantry Volunteer Kristin Helvey

St. Francis House Food Pantry Personal Shoppers are some of the most personable folks in our community. Thank you Kristin Helvey (of Helvey Communications) for being part of the team of volunteers at the food pantry.

The Ever Growing Need

Volunteers and donations are essential to operating St. Francis House Food Pantry. We depend on volunteers to help sort and distribute food, stock the shelves and assist clients through the food shopping process.

St. Francis House leverages nearly 6,000 volunteer hours every year.

We depend on donations to help offset the costs of providing healthy food choices to individuals and families in need of support. Fresh fruits and vegetables, fresh and frozen meats, and non-perishable items like dried beans, rice, canned goods and cereals are all critically needed at any time of the year.

Kristin and her son James, 7, enjoyed serving families in need at the food pantry.

“We’re happy to give a helping hand. We all need a helping hand sometimes, so we’re happy to be a part of it,” Helvey says.

Last year 94% of clients report that by receiving food, it allowed them to pay a bill that would have otherwise gone unpaid.

Thank you for making a positive difference in the lives of Alaskans in need!
