Thank you for your interest in supporting Catholic Social Services’ programs and clients! There are many ways that you can get involved and help us meet the needs in our community. From supporting staff during art time to assisting with resume writing or digital literacy skills at our Resource Navigation Center, there are a variety of ways to join us and volunteer in Anchorage. To get started as a volunteer, browse our current volunteer opportunities and see what best fits your schedule, skills and passion. Once you find something you would like to do, complete the volunteer application , and you will be contacted soon with further details.
Please only apply to volunteer if you are seriously interested in committing at least 2 hours a week or two hours every other week to assisting CSS in furthering their mission and supporting the work our programs offer.

I have filled out my Volunteer Application. What’s next?
When the Community Engagement Manager or RAIS Volunteer Coordinator are able to follow up, you will receive an email or phone call. Depending on placement, we may schedule a site visit to ascertain fit and interest. A volunteer orientation is required and there may be additional trainings depending on your position. If we move forward with placing you, a link to a confidential background check will be sent to your email and placement can be made when that has been completed and is clear and any required trainings are done.
Do I need a background check to volunteer?
Yes, a background check is required for all individual volunteer positions.
Once we determine the best fit for you as a volunteer, our staff will contact you to fill out a background check release form.
Can I bring a group to volunteer?
Catholic Social Services would love to host your group of volunteers for a morning or afternoon of service! Group volunteer opportunities might include cleaning, organizing, farm projects, and more!

Can children volunteer?
There are opportunities for youth under the age of 18 to volunteer with adult supervision in certain programs. Please have the responsible adult complete a Volunteer Application and our staff will contact you to fill out a Parental Consent Form. Be sure to include in the notes section of the Volunteer Application that you would like to volunteer with a youth so we can assure you are placed appropriately.
Can I receive court-ordered community work service hours?
Catholic Social Services no longer accepts volunteers seeking Community Work Service (CWS) hours.
