We are honored and excited to announce that as of October 15, 2018, Charlie Elder House will be transitioned to our partner, Covenant House Alaska.

As partners dedicated to serving people who are vulnerable in our community, Catholic Social Services believes Covenant House Alaska will be a wonderful partner to lead Charlie Elder House – a program that serves young men between the ages of 17 and 19.  We at Catholic Social Services will continue our work focusing on families and adults. We will also continue to partner and work closely with Covenant House Alaska to assure youth, family, and adults have access to safety-net services and ladders out of poverty to opportunity, long-term stability, and community connection.

In 2001, Charlie Elder House (named for a philanthropic oil-industry pioneer) opened to serve homeless and troubled teenage boys.  For the past 18 years, Catholic Social Services has been honored to serve young men experiencing homelessness who stayed at Charlie Elder House.  Although the program is transitioning away from our agency, we have worked to assure that this vital community service will continue to be provided by a community expert, Covenant House Alaska.  Our clients, former clients, and staff at Charlie Elder House will continue to be in our prayers and be partners we work with and rely on in Anchorage.

Thank you to our donors, partners, and volunteers who make Charlie Elder House an extraordinary service.

With our gratitude and hope for a bright future,

Lisa DH Aquino
Executive Director
